The Buzz Behind BB Creams

The Buzz behind BB Creams

BB Creams Craze

I
am sure, after all the buzz beauty balms have created in the last two
years; you must have one in your make-up stash, if no then you will soon
get one, but first you need to know what BB Creams actually are.

History of BB Creams:

It all started in Germany back in 1960’s. A Dermatologist Christine
Schrammek, M.D. who wanted a single cream that would protect skin and
provide coverage after laser treatments to his patients, formulated the first BB cream. Back in mid 90’s, Korean beauty market came up with a similar idea of an all in one, multi-tasking skin cream, which was a hit.

Introduction:

BB creams are short for Beauty Balms, Blemish Base or Blemish Balms
and have been around for quite some time. BB Cream manufacturers claim
that they combine the benefits of serums/primer/tinted moisturizer/sunscreen
in one cream so you may get a multi-tasking product for your skin. BB
cream is a multi-functional cream and it is supposed to make a good base
for your make up by moisturizing, priming & concealing the
blemishes and redness over your face. It also provides protection from
sun as it contains SPF and hydrates your skin like a day cream. Sounds
so amazing, right? That’s not all, BB creams also contain anti-aging
properties, if you are someone who requires lighter coverage, you may
easily replace your moisturizer and foundation with a BB cream.

Experts Opinion:

Lisa Eldridge, No 7 Creative Consultant says:

…not only is it an illuminator, moisturizer and protector
with SPF15. It also has corrective and balancing qualities. Your one
stop shop to flawless, beautiful skin.

Ni’Kita Wilson, a cosmetic chemist at Englewood Lab in New Jersey says:

The idea of a well-formulated BB cream is that it’s the only product you’ll need after you wash your face.

New York City and Miami-based dermatologist Fredric Brandt, M.D.says:

BB cream is perfect for a busy woman.

Do You Need One?

There is no harm in giving it a try; one always wonders why everyone
is running after BB Creams. The trick is to get a perfect shade that
suits your skin, the best tip I got once, is to treat your BB Cream like
a skin care cream. Before
purchasing its ideal to give it a try at counter or get a sample of it,
make sure it blends well. It’s always good to seek advice from the
person standing at the counter.
